Day 24 - Twenty four Guitars

Chocolate Of The Day: Image of the day: Sound(s) of the day:

It's a strawberry milkshake with chocolate syrup :

That's the face of Jesus you know, looking out from his milky grave.

It's a homemade drumkit :

I think it looks pretty cool...the nazi cross things set it off pretty well...I can imagine the red barron playing it in his retirement.

I think it's pretty cool what people can do to make kits, I have a personal love for this one:

I could get all political about how the people playing these kits are non-white, and how hard it must be in the third world not being able to get pearl export's (that's a crap drum kit if you didn't know - a crap drum kit that James II still uses - Ha Ha Ha)...But I won't go in to that, because to be honest I have no idea what I'm talking about, I just thought their kits were cool....anyway, here's another:

So today the great tradition that is "the trilogy" gains another classic addition to its ranks, the list no goes something like:

Star Wars 4 - 6
Star Wars 1 - 3
Indiana Jones
Sonic The Hedgehog

The Godfather Trilogy
Halo 1 - 3
Bat Out Of Hell 1 - 3
Isaac Asimov's Foundation Trilogy
Bored Of The Rings

And Now -

The Sludgefeast Guitar Trilogy
"Pt 1 Eight
Guitars"
"Pt II Sixteen Guitars"
"Pt III Twenty four Guitars"

Anyway, now our place in history is assured, I'll tell you all about it, eight guitars was easy, sixteen guitars was a more challenging "work", I assumed twenty four would be impossible, so I decided to take the "franchise" in a new direction.

The track is a pretty standard tune, but the guitar part is sliced in to 24 chunks, each played with a different guitar. To make it more awesome no tuning was allowed for any of the guitars, they were just pulled from the case (or the floor behind the sofa) and plugged in. Some of these guitars haven't been plugged in years. It was like reuniting with old friends, or seeing old friends that make you think, I don't know why I ever hung out with you, your shit.

Anyway, Coirin did a head count and found out that we own 19 guitars, 6 basses and 2 acoustics, its probably time to downsize a bit! Coirin just picked guitars at random and handed them to me, we tried to start with better guitars and slowly descend down the scale. It turns out they were pretty much all out of tune in one way or another.

On comparison, it turns out that the £30 Audition SG is probably the best sounding guitar I own.

Track 2 compares each guitars pickup hum in order, some of those old 60's guitars sure knew how to make noise.

Track 3 compares the tunings...
